The USDA announced expanded market access for U.S. dairy exports into Costa Rica. In May, Costa Rica’s National Animal Health Service approved the first American dairy cooperative for export under the country’s new streamlined registration system.

“Securing greater market access for American dairy farmers is a much-needed win for the U.S. dairy industry and will give U.S. producers better-increased access to the $130 million market in Costa Rica,” said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.

The new approval mechanism helps facilitate easier entry into the Costa Rican market, and the USDA’s success in navigating the updated process prevented what could have been a $60 million market loss for American dairy exporters.
