The Midwest Council on Agriculture is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Ibach, former Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and former Nebraska Director of Agriculture, as a policy advisor to the coalition. A fifth-generation farmer and rancher from Nebraska, Ibach brings a wealth of experience and expertise in agricultural policy to MWCA.

At USDA, Ibach played a pivotal role in shaping agricultural policies that have had a lasting impact on the industry. His leadership in enhancing market access for farmers and ensuring the integrity of the nation’s food supply has earned him widespread recognition and respect.

“We are thrilled to welcome Greg as a policy advisor to our coalition,” former House Agriculture Committee Chairman and MWCA founder Collin Peterson said. “His extensive knowledge and experience in agriculture, especially with livestock and animal agriculture will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for Midwest agriculture.”

Ibach’s appointment comes at a critical time for the Midwest agriculture, as it faces uncertainty in the markets and evolving regulatory landscapes. His insights and guidance will help the Council navigate these complexities and develop strategies that benefit Midwest farmers and the broader agricultural community.

“I am honored to join the Midwest Council on Agriculture and contribute to its mission of supporting Midwest farmers and rural agriculture economies,” said Ibach. “I look forward to working with the Council to address the pressing issues facing our industry and to promote policies that ensure the long-term success of agriculture in the region.”

Midwest Council Board President Perry Aasness, of Compeer Financial, said,” With the addition of Greg as a policy advisor, we are well-positioned to boost our efforts to drive collaboration and positive change for Midwest agriculture”.
